Renai is one of my oldest friends. We
attended Asquith Girls High School, and UTS together.
High School with Renai was about…
U2 - We were obsessed! Hella, we even had a rating
system to tell how obsessed we were!! Renai wrote
out the words to 'All I Want is You' when I found the chords for the song. I
still have that piece of paper in a box with all the other U2 paraphernalia that I collected over those last 3 years at
school. I copied the words off that when I put them at the top of the page.
Boxes - dots, graph paper, each takes a turn putting a line on a piece of
paper till you can make a box. We are still in the middle of a game, and yes,
I still have it. I will scan it in one day, and post it for all to behold it's glory.
Boredom - We took most of the same classes, and so spent a lot of our time
together bored out of our brains. Thus the need for distractions such as
boxes, and picture stories. I think that we even stuck pins through the skin
of our hands when we had English in a Textiles room once.
Uni with Renai
was about Social Life!!! The Glasshouse, pool, drinking, and laughter. We
didn't have any classes together, so most of our time at Uni
was about fun. She hung around with us engineers, and still does, even though
she is doing a science degree.
Twenty-something with
Renai is still about pool, drinking, and laughter... But we now add
work, Ex's and bikes to our list of things to talk about. She bought herself a
little yellow Spada. And she had the most fantastic helmet! She has had her
first major accident on it, and after seeing her in hospital for a few weeks,
we're all now pricing leather pants and Heavy-duty boots. Thank god it's tax
time...
The one thing I have always
liked about Renai is the fact that she listens to
me. I can go off my tree, and she will listen to me. This is as important
when you are 13 as it is now I'm 23.
I once had the pleasure of
showing Renai my world in Canberra when she came to visit. I am still amazed
at how she can walk into a room and immediately be on great terms with
everyone in it. Weeks later people were still asking
after her even though she was only a part of their lives for a few hours.
