So I found myself in the Gold Coast having to put together a set of bagpipes for my NIDA audition...

Problem 1.

to look like dark laquored wood.

Paint the pieces with some of the $3 mission brown mistint, then find a nice combination of inks to stain it up to the right colour, and some kind of clear gloss over the top to fill the gaps and make it shiney!
So I tried multiple shopping centres here on the Gold Coast trying to locate a GW store to gets my paint from.
No luck... There aren't any stores here... but there are two in Brisbane!

The closest is in Mt Gravatt, not in the enormous Westfield shopping centre, but at a smaller mall down the road.
And OMFJ! it was Enormous!!!
