and I am a magnet for the bizarre!

My thermos is full of custard.
I recently discovered Turkish Coffee. You brew it in water in a saucepan on the stovetop. IN WATER! This morning I had a thought... that thought led to my thermos being full of custard...
I like soy lattes. I like Turkish coffee... why don't I make a Turkish latte?
Instructions say to put 1 spoon of coffee to every cup of water. A recipe that I've followed with success on 2 previous occasions. So I performed the following ritual...
Got a saucepan, put 3 cups of Soy milk in there.
Added 4 Tblsp Turkish coffee
Added 3 Tblsp Dark Cocoa Solids
Added 6 Tblsp Raw caster sugar
Stirred over a low heat till everything dissolved, then left it just below simmering for another 5 to brew. (again, I iterate, a technique I have used with great success previously with water)
When I was ready to leave I poured the very viscous brew into my thermos and trotted off to work.
5 hours later I poured the very steaming (deliciously aromatic) drink from my thermos into my cup.
... and as it cooled it turned to custard.
Which is cool... I like custard, and I like the mocca flavour.
It's just that it's freaking me out slightly... My thermos is full of custard... just slightly.

Another year gone
I had planned on doing so many things last year... I don't think I got around to many of them. but I achieved so much...
- I taught Jason how to drive a car. He got his 'P's' in December. Took him 6 months. A feat I think he never thought possible. Certainly gets some raised eyebrows when he tells people he is now a licensed menace.
- I paid off 2 of my debts. One to a friend of mine, a heavy burden that weighed me down far more than any of the larger sums. And my St George "I'm outta here" loan that I took out when I broke up with my Ex and had to pay rent and bond in advance sort of stuff. St George was really nice, they waived the early payout fee and everything. Aah well... 2 down, 3 to go.
- I got my Security Licence and found a great job. Something I had been contemplating for a little while, something I thought that I'd enjoy very much... I was right!
- Completed 6 needlepoint projects. One cross-stich I'd been doing since 1998, 2 Egyptian tapestries (pearl) that my sister gave me for Christmas02, Started a Dimensions Gold collection counted cross stitch for Jason, and had it taken from me in various stages of possessiveness, then helped him with background of his petit point, I'm counting that as one total. I also finished off a Gold Collections mini cross stitch. It looks so beautiful. I also took a white tiger long-stitch kit and used 4 different stitches to make it look really spiffy - gave that to my grandma for Christmas.
- Found a new best friend. Fell badly in love. Still going well.

What I didn't get around to? - stuff that's still in various stages of completion / planning...
- Started 3 Needlepoint projects. Penguin long-stitch, Unicorn period petit point, and a sailing ship stranded cotton tapestry. I have bought 4 more kits, that are sitting ready and waiting. Cheetah long-stitch, white tiger cross stitch, cats gold collection cross stitch, and - um, there is another one, I just can't remember what it is... And I'm still doing the sunflower test square...
- Dorothy wants CDs... I have a dead CD player in my car to fix, and a spare working model that I could just install at any time I want... 2 years later, haven't gotten around to it.
- My DVD player has had an intermittent fault in the 5V output in the power PCB for 3 years. Still haven't gotten around to looking at why, or knocking up a way around it.
- My television is still without sound. The variable resistor is dying. needs replacing. will cost only a few dollars to fix. take mebbe an hour. has been that way for 3 years.
- Buying an Iron. ...Gotta get around to that one day...
- Simlauren.com - so many missing clickys!! - though this page diminishes it by one...
